This week, we have been conducting another pupil voice to contribute to our school improvement by involving our pupils at SJS in the self-evaluation, planning and decision-making processes. In PE, we aim to listen to our children’s views and take them into account when making decisions on our future offer. Children and young people can offer a powerful and unique perspective on what it is like to be a pupil in a PE lesson and by involving them in the decision-making process, they can make meaningful changes, as well as facilitating a sense of empowerment and inclusion.
Stocksbridge Junior School is delighted to announce the remarkable success of its Year 6 Sports Hall Athletics Team, who demonstrated exceptional teamwork and determination throughout their journey to the Sheffield City Final.
Earlier this week, our Indoor Athletics squad participated in the Links Sports Partnership Final at All Saints School, having progressed through the first round of the competition against local schools.
Over the last six weeks, we have been receiving additional PE provision delivered by Brady Sounders from Yorkshire cricket, which was additional to the children’s normal PE lessons. Each session allowed 30 selected pupils, including our Hub children to hone their cricket skills in an inclusive and supported session, that progressed over the six weeks. We were very grateful to have had this opportunity and thanks to Yorkshire cricket and sponsorship from the Lord's Taverners charity, these sessions were free for our children to enjoy.
Last Friday 8 December we joined in to be a part of this year's National Santa Dash 2023.
This week, some super brave Year 3 children walked down to Stocksbridge High School to take part in a Christmas Sports Festival along with both Deepcar and Stocksbridge Infant Schools.
