  • Year 6 Girls' Football After-School Club

    In preparation for the upcoming girls’ football competition, where Stocksbridge will be hosting four other schools in a round-robin event, the Year 6 girls have been eagerly refining their skills in our Monday after-school football club. We are delighted to see a consistently high number of participants turning up week in, week out. Not only are we focusing on developing skills such as passing, control, and dribbling, but we are also delving into the rules, strategies, and tactics of the game. Our aim is to build the confidence of the girls so that they may continue to participate in football outside of school and maintain an active lifestyle.

  • Year 5 Westfield Health Basketball Competition

    This week, our Year 5 basketball team went to the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield to take part in a citywide competition sponsored by Westfield Health. Twenty schools, all of which have been part of the schools’ basketball initiative focusing on key areas of the PSHE curriculum, such as self-esteem and bullying, participated. We were very grateful to have three professional basketball players in school, coaching our Year 5s, leading classroom sessions, running assemblies, and being fantastic role models for our youngsters.

  • Year 5 Aqua Festival @ Ponds Forge

    This week we took at team of Year 5 children to Ponds Forge for a swimming development festival which had a nice combination of supported races and relays along with some expert tuition from swimming coaches.  This was part of the development programme to provide children who have never been to an elite sporting venue such as Ponds Forge to experience being part of a team. Alongside our session, we had the privilege to watch some professional divers preparing for the upcoming Olympics and the Hallam elite swimmers team being put through their paces which was very impressive.
